Disney Cream Cheese Stuffed Pretzels

I have heard a lot about these Disney Cream Cheese Stuffed Pretzels but have never had one. In fact, one of my travel clients specifically request this recipe. I was very happy to find it in the Unofficial Disney Parks Cookbook. (Thank you, Ashley, for allowing me to feature it).

They used to be sold at the Lunching Pad in Tomorrowland in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, but have been spotted lately at the snack cart near Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

After making it, I can see why they are such a big Disney food fan favorite. I can’t wait to go back to the parks and try one for myself.

Disney Cream Cheese Stuffed Pretzels

Pretzels with Cream Cheese Filling
The Unofficial Disney Parks Cookbook*
By Ashley Craft

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of warm water (110°F)
  • One (¼ ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 4 cups room temperature water
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • ¼ cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1 graham cracker, finely crushed

Instructions

  1. In the bowl of the stand mixer, pour 2 cups warm water and sprinkle yeast on top. Let sit 10 minutes.

  2. Add Flour and salt to yeast mixture. Using the dough hook attachment, mix five minutes. Dough should be smooth and elastic.

  3. Remove dough and spray bowl with nonstick cooking spray. Return dough to bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit warm place 45 minutes.

  4. Preheat oven to 450°F. Line a large ungreased baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

  5. In a large pot over high heat, bring room temperature water to a boil.

  6. In the bowl of a stand mixer, add cream cheese and confectioners’ sugar . Using the flat beater attachment, beat on medium until well combined. Scoop into a large pastry bag. Cut a small hole in the top of the bag. Set aside

  7. Turned dough onto a clean surface. Cut into four equal pieces. Working with one piece at a time, roll dough into a rope about 25”  long. Use a rolling pin to flatten the rope to about 2” wide. Pipe cream cheese mixture down the center of the dough, about the thickness of the pencil. Use your fingers to pinch to dough around the cream cheese, making sure that dough is sealed tight to avoid spillage.

  8. Hold one dough rope up in a U-shape. Cross the top pieces over one another in twist bring them back down towards you and press into the bottom of the U. Repeat with the remaining Dough.

  9. Add baking soda to pot of boiling water. Working with 1 pretzel at a time, use a slotted spoon to slide pretzel into baking soda bath and poach 30 seconds. Removed pretzel to prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining pretzels.

  10. Brush each pretzel with beaten egg and sprinkle on crushed graham cracker crumbs. Bake until pretzels are golden brown, about 12 minutes

DISNEY CREAM CHEESE STUFFED PRETZELS RECIPE Tip:
Fill pretzels with double the cream cheese for even more creamy filling. The recipe above makes enough to do so. You won't regret it.
